Let's take a look at our bushcraft knife model the Classic.
Shape. Based off of the Woodlore style knife, this is a time-tested and proven design for use in bushcraft. This model has at least slightly influenced many of our other models, as it has an excellent blend of simplicity, robustness, and finesse.
The Classic has a Woodlore style profile with an overall length of nearly 9 inches (225 mm)
Blade. The blade has a cutting edge length just over 4 inches, with an overall blade length of roughly 4.35 inches. The blade shape is a strong drop-point to where the tip is roughly in line with the center of the handle. The blade has a flat portion for push-cuts for approximately 2 inches of the edge before it takes a gradual curve up to the tip. This blade shape is very durable, yet allows for intricate whittling and fine detail work.
The blade length is a tad under 4.35 inches (110 mm), with a cutting edge length just over 4 inches (103 mm)
The steel is O1 high-carbon tool steel, tempered and cryo-treated to a 59 rockwell hardness. The blade is 9/64 inches (3.5 mm) thick, and sports a razor sharp scandi grind. The scandi grind excels at woodworking tasks, so paired up with the blade shape you have an excellent tool for bushcraft woodworking oriented chores. The spine is a nice sharp 90 degrees for scraping.
Handle. The handle is 4.5 inches long and features a coke-bottle contour. The profile has a miniature fingerguard, which is just enough to make you aware of the edge, but not enough to interfere with various grips. The pommel (bottom of the handle) is flared, and the profile has a finger-catch; a point which resembles the finger-guard in size and shape. This flare is useful for taking the knife in and out of the sheath, for "choking down" for leuku style wrist-flick chopping, and to help with a secure grip if your hands are cold or wet.
The mini finger-guard, does not interfere with grips but keeps you aware of the edge
Pommel swell and finger-catch provide a secure grip, and can be utilized for "leuku grip" wrist-flick chopping
Matching Firesteel. We have the option to purchase a matching 3 x 3/8 firesteel. We recommend using the spine of your knife or a dedicated firesteel striker.
A matching firesteel; note, my personal sheath is getting a bit beat up
Sheath. We have a variety of different handmade leather sheath options available. The sheaths are also made by us out of 7-8 oz English bridle leather by the top American leather manufacturer, Wickett & Craig. We have four color options to choose from. All of our sheaths come double-stitched. We have the option to add a firesteel loop or removable dangler, which allows the sheath to ride lower than your backpack's hip belt.
This sheath is chestnut brown with a removable dangler and a firesteel loop
Warranty & Touch-Ups. We have an "heirloom" warranty, ensuring the knife's coverage no matter how many times it is handed down or traded. We also offer a free touch-up service, so don't be shy to put your knife through it's paces, because we can always get it looking new again.
Materials & Availability. We offer a variety of materials for our knife models, with different handle scale material, liners, and hardware. We often change up what options we are offering, and sometimes we won't offer a certain combination for weeks, months, or even years. Currently our best-sellers are ivory paper micarta, green canvas micarta, and Arizona desert ironwood. We try to keep those combinations available, though they, too, may go out of stock.
Currently the only way to purchase new Adventure Sworn knife is through the Available Knives page of our store. Click here to check out what we have in stock.
